Eaton Chromebook Distribution

Northwest ISD understands the value of technology in the classroom as a means to elevate teaching and learning. Access to a world of information, resources, and creative potential helps our students be future ready. It is an expectation that all students come to school with a charged device every day. Students can choose to utilize a district issued device or their own personal computing device.

District Issued Devices
All secondary students will have the opportunity to receive a Dell Chromebook as the district issued device for the 2016-2017 school year. Northwest ISD will be joining over half of the K-12 market in the US that is currently using Chromebooks as their primary learning device. The operating system is designed to create a secure experience for our students. This device exceeds the Northwest ISD Student Device Standards and we are excited about the opportunities this creates for our learners. Eaton will be distributing devices to our students on the following days through our English classes:
• August 30th – 11th graders
• August 31st – 10th graders
• September 1st – 9th graders

Students who currently have a district issued device will need to bring the following on their Chromebook deployment date.
• Currently issued device with all accessories (keyboard, cover, charger and any other cables). To view account information such as fees, balance, and devices that are checked out to your child, click here

All Students wanting to be issued a Chromebook
• Sign and review the Secondary Device Usage Agreement online by signing into your account here and clicking on "Submit the Secondary Device Usage Agreement Online". If you prefer to print out a copy and bring to your campus, click here.

Optional: Pay the annual maintenance fee of $25 online here or in person on campus.
• The optional maintenance fee for the 2016-2017 school year is $25.
• Students on free or reduced lunch will have an optional maintenance fee of $10. Students on free and reduced lunch may speak to the campus assistant principal for assistance with payment options.
• This fee may be paid online with a credit card or in person by cash or check.

Students who are absent, don’t bring their district issued device or do not have their Secondary Device Usage Agreement on their day of distribution
• Chromebooks can be pick-up after our designated distribution dates from Eaton’s Campus Technologist in Room C108A which is located on the C100 level near the SRO’s office before school or during lunches starting September 2nd (the CT office at Eaton will be closed on September 8th & 15th)

Bring Your Own Device
If students choose to forego the district issued device, they can utilize their own personal computing device as long as it follows the BYOD Guidelines. While we recognize cell phones are often used in the learning environment, they are a supplemental device and should not be the student’s primary educational device.

Wireless Access
Northwest ISD students will utilize the district's filtered internet. Whether they choose to utilize the district issued device or bring their own, the filtering system in Northwest ISD exceed the requirements of Children's Internet Protection Act.
